Westwing Insights: Workation

To get more insights about #teamwestwing on workation, we’ve met with Raquel, Joana, Lisa, and Pashayanti who recently worked in Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Dubai, and Kolhapur City.

Raquel, UX/UI Designer, worked from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

“In the beginning of the year, I worked from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from my family’s summer house. As I was in a different time zone, I started working at 5 am, had breakfast at 8 am (during Munich lunch time) and normally finished my day around 2 pm. I really enjoyed working from abroad because, in my opinion, at home we get too attached to our routines and the days go by without necessarily experiencing something new. However, while working from abroad, every day is unique and seems to be exciting because we appreciate the change of scenery. I love the freedom of Westwing’s working from anywhere policy. I can visit my family or spend time in a new place while being productive. As a designer, I believe this gives me more inspiration and creativity.”

Joana, Art Director Content Creation, worked from Cape Town, South Africa

“In March 2022, I worked 2 days from Cape Town, South Africa before starting my vacation there. We stayed in Cape Town’s city center, so it was really nice to spend the lunch breaks outside in a cute café and having lunch with my boyfriend (who traveled with me). While working, I was in a really good mood, and I’m sure that was also due to the warm weather because we had traveled to Cape Town to escape the cold and rainy Germany. Additionally, I also felt very motivated, free, independent, but also more relaxed in tricky or stressful situations. I am very grateful that Westwing lets me combine work and vacation.”

Lisa, Senior P&C Associate, worked from Dubai, UAE

“My boyfriend lives in Dubai, so I often travel and work from there. I regularly start my day at 9 am and enjoy the quiet time before everyone in Munich gets to work (Dubai is 2 hours ahead of Munich). During my lunch breaks in Dubai, I usually enjoy the time outside. There is a nice running track directly opposite of my boyfriend’s flat, so I usually go for long walks or runs during my break. This way, I feel fresh and ready to hit the ground running in the afternoon. Since I’ve been in a long-distance relationship for a while, it’s really amazing that Westwing makes working from abroad possible. I don’t have to sacrifice all my vacation days to spend a bit of time with my partner in Dubai.”

Pashayanti, Accountant, working from Kolhapur City, India

“I have been working in India for some time now and this gives me the opportunity to have lunch with my family and enjoy my mother’s home-cooked food. Working from abroad makes it possible to be with your family and I really appreciate Westwing for its flexibility to work from anywhere.”
