Westwing Launches Danilo – a New Furniture Line Crafted with Recycled Materials
Munich, 28 October 2025 – Westwing, Europe’s #1 in Beautiful Living e-commerce, announces the launch of Danilo, a recycled furniture line within the Westwing Collection. This curated and unique line features dining tables and stools crafted from recycled textiles, transforming waste into design-forward surfaces.
Thanks to Rezign®, a company that specialises in recycled materials and sustainable surfaces, the collection gives textile waste a purpose. The material used is a veneer made from recycled textiles and a biodegradable binder derived from potato starch residue – giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste.
Discarded textiles - such as old denim, military uniforms, suits, and white jeans - along with bio-based fibers like flax, hemp, and jute coffee bags, form the foundation of the material. Rezign® processes these fibers by shredding them into small pieces, carding them into felt and pressing the felt with a biodegradable binder to create a durable, visually striking surface. This fusion of sustainability and refined design sets a new benchmark for conscious furniture production.
“With Danilo, we show that design and responsibility belong together. By transforming discarded textiles into striking surfaces, we turn waste into beauty and inspiration. Each piece carries its own story, where refined design meets conscious choice – a reflection of Westwing’s belief in living beautifully with people and planet”, says Erasmia Kitou, Director Corporate Sustainability at Westwing.
The Danilo dining tables and stools will be available in a variety of colours and crafted from diverse recycled materials – from old denim to tailored suits – giving each piece a distinctive aesthetic and story. With the Danilo line, Westwing takes another step in integrating sustainability into product development and material sourcing, underlining its commitment to continuously improving the environmental footprint of the Westwing Collection.
The launch reflects Westwing’s ambition to combine design with responsibility, responding to the growing interest in more environmentally conscious choices within Home & Living. By working with high-quality recycled materials and thoughtful design principles, Westwing reinforces its long-term vision of creating products that balance aesthetics, durability, and reduced impact.
Westwing Collection Sustainability Goals – Materials Focus
As part of its commitment to more responsible material sourcing, Westwing has set the following material-related goals for its Westwing Collection by 2026:
- Use more than 90% certified responsibly sourced wood
- Use more than 90% certified responsibly sourced cotton
- Use more than 90% responsibly sourced animal by-products
- Increase the share of recycled plastics in our products
- Eliminate hazardous substances and avoid harmful chemicals in production
With Danilo, Westwing brings these goals to life, merging recycled materials with premium design. The result: furniture that is as responsible as it is remarkable.
